Closing Out an Amazing Week in the 'Burgh
Dear On the Rocks Friends and Fans,
What a week it was in Pittsburgh! We ended my trip with two very notable occasions.
The first was an intimate book club at the Nevillewood Country Club on 10/15/24 organized by our friend Christine Haythorn. We had a wonderful night chatting and exchanging our Rocks stories and connections. We even met a fellow author Nancy Hill. Despite many last minute illnesses, the conversation was lively and went on for hours!
We then closed out the trip with a huge mic drop at the Key4Women Conference sponsored by our friends at Key Bank. This sold out event at Franklin on Penn on 10/17/24 consisted of free food, drinks, parking, hair, make-up, headshots, women owned businesses, and I got to deliver the keynote address. It was by far the hardest speech I’ve ever written, but also one of the most rewarding ones to deliver. It was an absolute honor to share my story and connect with such an inspiring group of women. The energy in the room was truly uplifting, and it reminded me of the power of community, shared experiences, and the courage we all have within us.
Thank you for your warm welcome and for making the entire experience so memorable. I felt embraced by everyone there, and I hope my words resonated with the attendees as much as their presence inspired me.
If you missed the event, below you will find a link to my speech and also a little highlight reel I put together.

I’ll be closing out this month with private events in NJ, and I’ll be back up and running in mid November at the Ramsey Library in Ramsey, NJ. I do expect to be very busy at my day job between now and mid December as I run a holiday giving program for children in Paterson, but fear not, I’ll be back soon enough!
With gratitude,
Maria C. Palmer, On the Rocks Co-Author
